Madoline Markham is an editor and writer with a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. She currently works as the managing editor for Birmingham, Ala., community newspapers 280 Living, The Homewood Star, and Village Living.
She also has edited and produced online content for SouthernLiving.com. Her writing has been published in SouthernLiving.com, Cooking with Paula Deen, Southern Lady, Vox Magazine, Memphis, and the Columbia Missourian.
Madoline fell in love with the written word over Nancy Drew novels, elaborate book report projects, and letters to pen pals as a kid. After editing yearbooks and studying history at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., with a side stint at Oxford University, she followed her heart for research and editorial creativity to professional endeavors.
A working journalist in her free time, Madoline enjoys blogging about her cooking adventures, recording memories in photo books, and using Adobe software to make gifts for friends and family —all of which she fact checks and edits for AP style. She does, however, attempt to downplay editor mode to work through her goodreads.com to-read list, spend time with family and friends at Smith Lake in north Alabama, ride bikes, and engage in the art of conversation.
